The Ulten Valley is famous for its sunny days – even in winter. So, let’s get out into the snowy nature. Numerous cleared winter hiking trails run through the villages. One of them even leads directly past our house and crosses the Ulten Farm Trail.

The Ulten cross-country ski run runs almost right outside our front door, it is only a few metres to the entrance. The trail is both groomed and prepared for skaters and runs for 25 kilometres through snow-covered forests, over meadows and past farms.
The ice rink in Kuppelwies opens every winter as soon as the temperatures allow it. Ice skating at night by floodlight is also possible. Fun for the whole family. Skates can be rented comfortably on site in the rental shop.
Sliding over the snow with the sledge – that’s fun not only for the little ones. By the way, you don’t have to walk far for that. Because there is a small toboggan slope right next to our hotel. If you like longer downhill runs, you can test the natural toboggan run Moscha at the valley station Breiteben. The Schwemmy Kinderland is ideal for families with small children.
Immerse yourself in a bygone era in one of the three museums of the Ulten Valley. In the valley museum in St. Nikolaus, just a few minutes’ walk from our hotel, you can gain an insight into the life of the local people in the past.
In the centuries-old “Lahnersäge” in St. Gertraud you will find today the visitor centre of the National Park Stilfserjoch and in the archaeological documentation centre “Culten” in St. Walburg you can take a look at the life of the locals in the Stone, Bronze and Iron Ages.
